João Amaral Cruz is a Portuguese architect born in Luanda in 1970. Currently developing residential projects on different scales and programs, between complete reformulation, partial rehabilitation and completely new ones, from seaside to inland. Dividing his time between professional and academic pursuits he has collaborated with various teams in Architecture, Interiors, Exhibit Design, Museography, and Product Design, addressing broader issues such as culture, identity, materiality and user centered design in his work. He explores architectural thinking and project methodologies as catalysts for a holistic idea development. In addition to his professional practice, João has taught courses in Interior Design Project, Fundamentals of Design, and Design & Sustainability at ESAD, the College of Art and Design in Matosinhos. He attended the Artistic School of Soares dos Reis in Porto (EASR), the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB), and graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Porto (FAUP).
